Col. Madison, a highly decorated Vietnam War hero and POW served 30 years in the U.S. Air Force. Mr. Madison’s decorations include the Silver Star, Distinguished Flying Cross, Air Medal, Purple Heart, and several others. Shortly after retiring from the military, he became one of the first African-Americans in Austin to go to work for the financial giant, Merrill Lynch. “I have always been a firm believer in the education process, therefore, I am very impressed to have a scholarship presented in my name,” said Mr. Madison. Mr. Madison is a graduate of the old Anderson High School and he earned his B.S. degree from Samuel Houston College (now Huston-Tillotson College). He holds a M.B.A. from Arizona State University and a M.S. from Tuskegee Institute.
