Dr. Amanda Hernandez Memorial

This scholarship was established in memory of Amanda Hernandez. She was born and raised in Corpus Christi, Texas and learned the importance of Early Childhood Education from her mother Margaret, a Head Start Director, and her father Jesse, an early childhood advocate. Amanda attended Del Mar College and Corpus Christi State University where she received a B. S. in Education. Following marriage and motherhood, Amanda continued her education studying Early Childhood Education while directing and earning NAEYC Accreditation for a Child Care Center. When she came to Austin, Amanda joined the ACC Child Development Department. Her passion for higher education inspired her to work towards a Ph.D. while raising her family and working full time. Amanda’s whole-hearted dedication to her students inspired her family and colleagues to create a scholarship to honor her memory.
