Brian M. Byrne Memorial
Born in Yonkers, NY, Brian moved to Texas to attend SMU, receiving his undergraduate degree there. He then moved to Austin to attend UT where he received his Master’s Degree in psychology. He left that field to spend a career in information technology. One of Brian’s strongest abilities was his ability to diagnose a software issue over the phone, quickly and correctly. He was multi-talented as a writer, photographer, musician, artist, teacher, team leader, and small business owner. Brian and his wife, Elaine were animal lovers, being owned by many cats over the years. When their beloved B. J. Honeycatt lost his battle with cancer in 1985, they committed to remember him by supporting animal welfare, rescue, and rehabilitation. They were both early board members of Austin Pets Alive! Elaine continues to volunteer with that group. Brian and Elaine were married for 41 years until his death in 2013.
